Desert Sky Ranch is not a sales barn, but we often have small inventory of quality horses and ponies available for sale.
Sometimes a great horse or pony becomes available that we certainly can’t pass up.
We strive to find a great equine-rider match, allowing for a bond to grow through the years.  Before any of our horses are offered for sale, we put it though a trial period to find its best suitability.
We believe in honesty and integrity, and represent out horses to the very best of our ability and knowledge.
If you are looking for a specific match not in out list, please contact us and we may help you find it!

Leo's Dash N Win - 2001 Registered AQHA Gelding (15.3hh)

***UPDATE ON DASH: I took Dash out on a trail ride on the mesa this weekend, barefoot and alone.  I brought a pair of Epic boots with me just in case, but he didn't need them.  He did wonderfully!  He likes to look around and take it all in,  but was level headed and sure footed.  Sunday, I took him out with a neighbor's horse, one that he has never met before.  He was even calmer with this horse around, and content to lead or follow.  The neighbor brought his 2 dogs, which didn't seem to bother him at all either.

Stay tuned for more...

An amazing opportunity to own a well-papered, extremely athletic, gorgeous gelding.  See his registration/lineage at: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/leos+dash+n+win
Dash is a very well rounded horse.  He has worked on ranches in Wyoming and Montana, completing cattle round-ups,  gathering, herding and branding.  He has been trail ridden extensively in the mountains, and most recently, he has competed in endurance riding. He was the only Quarter Horse on the circuit, who could complete 45 miles in one ride.  He held his own against Arabians, running miles of races.  He was on the market, priced at $10,000 when his luck ran out…

“Dash” was given a life line when he found me.  His previous owners found themselves in circumstances beyond their ability to deal with.  He had mildly foundered and was scheduled for euthanasia, because no one had the knowledge or finances to manage the situation.  As it turns out, it was a mechanical founder, caused by prolonged poor farrier work.

He has been with me for 9 months, and has recovered beautifully!  His feet have changed, and grown, and with the most skilled farrier work, 9 months has made all the difference in this horse’s life.

He is now barefoot, and cleared for moderate exercise.  At this point, he needs fairly soft footing for his soundness, as his feet are still growing/changing/healing.  Another 3-4 months will complete a full hoof growth cycle, allowing him to return to full soundness, ready for competition!

He is remarkably intelligent and very athletic.  His potential is limitless for the rider who wants to take him to the top, regardless of the discipline.  He is incredibly intelligent and  learns very quickly.  Anything you want to teach him takes only one lesson.  He absorbs and retains so quickly!  He will race around the arena like a mack-truck, or he will slow to a lovely Western Pleasure jog.  Dash is so amazing, I can't even begin to detail how wonderful he is!
He would not be suitable for a beginner rider, due to his energy and ability for speed.

He is a stall-baby, and loves his pampered new life.  I assumed he had always had a barn stall, by the way he took to it, but found out this is his first!  He loves to be groomed, and fussed over.  He takes a fly mask like a pro, and has learned that blankets aren't such a bad thing!  He's taken everything he's given in stride...

Dash has shown himself to be a woman’s horse, as his attitude and effort are at their peak when around women.  He prefers and seeks out the company of women, over that of a man.  He's gentle and eager to please when in a woman's hands.

Dash is priced at $3500 (firm), simply because that is what I have spent rehabilitating him.  I am not looking to make a profit on him.  His happiness in a life-long home is payment enough.

The MACHINIST, aka JOKER is an adorable 4 year old bay thoroughbred gelding that belongs to a friend of ours.  She is heading off to college and cannot give this wonderful horse the time he needs and deserves.  We really want him to go to a great home, so we're advertising him to help both of them out.
Joker is out of Mama's Machine by Lord Carson.  He came off the track due to a lack of interest in racing.  He's a lucky little guy to have ended up in our friend Shyanne's caring hands.  She has put a lot of time and training into him, hoping for a rodeo prospect, but true to the TB breed, he just wants to be an English horse and JUMP!  He has been ridden both English and Western.  He has been hauled around getting plenty of exposure to new things.  He has been to rodeo events, moved cows, ran barrels, and stands in the roping box.  All this, and you'd think he would pick up the Western lifestyle!  He's been on plenty of trail rides, and isn't spooky.  Great on a hot walker/jogger.
He is only 4, still green, and a thoroughbred to boot, so he does need consistent exercise and work.  Challenge his mind and you will channel his energy into accomplishing just about anything! Due to his age/breed, he will need a confident and experienced rider.  Give him your patience, and he will give you 100%.  He needs a job, and he would prefer it be jumping!
Joker is currently being boarded in El Paso, TX, but Shyanne would be happy to bring him to Los Lunas,NM for anyone interested in looking at him.  Please contact Shyanne at 505-304-2376
 or email her at: seasley@nmsu.edu
Joker is priced at $3000, and negotiable to the perfect home!

SOLD! OUR CONGRATS TO TESSA AND HER WONDERFUL FAMILY! MAY JOKER FIND HIS PLACE AS A PART OF YOUR FAMILY!
