Desert Sky Ranch is not a sales barn, but
we often have small inventory of quality horses and ponies
available for sale.
Sometimes a great horse or pony becomes available that we
certainly can’t pass up.
We strive to find a great equine-rider match, allowing for a
bond to grow through the years. Before any of our horses are
offered for sale, we put it though a trial period to find its
best suitability.
We believe in honesty and integrity, and represent out horses to
the very best of our ability and knowledge.
If you are looking for a specific match not in out list, please
contact us and we may help you find it!

Leo's Dash N Win -
2001 Registered AQHA Gelding (15.3hh)
SOLD!
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR INQUIRES!
OUR HEARTFELT CONGRATS TO THE LEWIS FAMILY~ HAPPY
TRAILS!!!
***UPDATE ON DASH: I
took Dash out on a trail ride on the mesa this weekend, barefoot
and alone. I brought a pair of Epic boots with me just in
case, but he didn't need them. He did wonderfully!
He likes to look around and take it all in, but was level
headed and sure footed. Sunday, I took him out with a
neighbor's horse, one that he has never met before. He was
even calmer with this horse around, and content to lead or
follow. The neighbor brought his 2 dogs, which didn't seem
to bother him at all either.
Stay tuned for more...
An
amazing opportunity to own a well-papered, extremely athletic,
gorgeous gelding. See his registration/lineage at: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/leos+dash+n+win
Dash is a very well rounded horse.
He has worked on ranches in Wyoming and Montana, completing
cattle round-ups, gathering,
herding and branding. He
has been trail ridden extensively in the mountains, and most
recently, he has competed in endurance riding. He was the only
Quarter Horse on the circuit, who could complete 45 miles in one
ride. He held his
own against Arabians, running miles of races.
He was on the market, priced at $10,000 when his luck ran
out…
“Dash”
was given a life line when he found me.
His previous owners found themselves in circumstances
beyond their ability to deal with.
He had mildly foundered and was scheduled for euthanasia,
because no one had the knowledge or finances to manage the
situation. As it
turns out, it was a SIMPLY a mechanical founder,
completely caused by prolonged poor
farrier work.
He has
been with me for a year, and has recovered beautifully!
His feet have changed, and grown, and with the most
skilled farrier work, this time has made all the difference in
this horse’s life.
He is
now barefoot, and cleared to go back to work! He is sound at the
walk, trot, canter and gallop. Good on tight turns and
circles. His recovery is complete and this boy needs a
full time job. He is in great health, with no metabolic
issues or any special needs.
He is
remarkably intelligent and very athletic.
His potential is limitless for the rider who wants to
take him to the top, regardless of the discipline.
He is incredibly smart and learns very
quickly. Anything you want to teach him takes only one
lesson. He absorbs and retains so quickly! He will
race around the arena like a mack-truck, or he will slow to a
lovely Western Pleasure jog. Dash is so amazing, I can't
even begin to detail how wonderful he is!
He would not be suitable for a beginner rider,
due to his energy and ability for speed.
***Update: I did have him give a lesson to one of my
advanced beginner lesson clients. He didn't take advantage
of her lack of skill or knowledge, she simply was not able to
get him to trot for any length of time. He was content to
pack her around at a walk, I think due to the rider's timid
nature.
He is a stall-baby, and loves his pampered new life. I
assumed he had always had a barn stall, by the way he took to
it, but found out this is his first! He loves to be
groomed, and fussed over. He takes a fly mask like a pro,
and has learned that blankets aren't such a bad thing!
He's taken everything he's given in stride...
Dash has
shown himself to be a woman’s horse, as his attitude and
effort are at their peak when around women. He prefers and
seeks out the company of women, over that of a man. He's
gentle and eager to please when in a woman's hands.
Dash is priced at $4000, simply because that is what I
have spent rehabilitating him.
I am not looking to make a profit on him.
His happiness in a life-long home is payment enough.
Price negotiable to the right home!
